Welcome
Jade Mountain Academy welcomes everyone who walks through the doors, whether they are here of their own choice or by order of their queen or parent. All new students and teachers will have received a map of the school, their schedule (prone to change due to the magical nature of the school), and school rules. With the war still fresh in everyone's minds, tensions are still running high, but everyone is doing their best to make Jade Mountain Academy a peaceful place for all tribes. While it may run like a typical school, the unique make-up of students and teachers make it far from typical.
Prompts
Dorm Life
Perhaps you're used the sharing barracks with other soldiers or dragonets, or maybe you've always had your own room. Regardless, now that you're here it is clear you're expected to share your space with others, most likely from tribes other than your own. Whether these dragons will be your best friends or worst nemeses is all up to you. Upon entering the school, you'll be directed to your dormitory to drop off any personal items and meet your future roommates. Each dorm has a designated space for each dragon, but that doesn't mean there won't be squabbles over who gets the bed by the window, or if someone brought their obnoxious pet.
Class is in Session
At the end of the day learning, or teaching, is what you're all here for. Everyone has their own class schedule, but no matter when your class starts you're expected to be punctual. Even the teachers. Especially the teachers. Some classes may be routine lectures, but you never know when you'll have a pop quiz, paired flying exercises, or collaborative art projects. Every day is a bit unique.
A Place of Study
The library is a hub for student activity, with tables and study nooks throughout, and is open at almost all hours. It's a popular spot for study groups, though of course quiet discussion is encouraged so as not to disturb other students. The tall racks of scrolls offer a plethora of reading material on a wide variety of subjects. Though some scrolls may be in higher demand as tests approach, and maybe you weren't the fastest one to check it out. Hopefully the person who was is generous enough to lend you a claw.

Diana Cavendish | Little Witch Academia
1. Dorm Life
Aurora had made sure she arrived at the school early, as there was no way she would miss being late. She had been one of the first to register and get her room assignment, and so was already in the process of unpacking a large chest when her new roommates arrived. Sharing a room was...inconvenient, but she wasn't about to go against convention.
"I do hope you don't mind if this stays here," she said, gesturing to the large chest filling most of the space between her bed and the one next to it. "They did not provide nearly enough shelving for the scrolls I brought with me."
2. Class is in Session
An assignment on night navigation was child's play, Aurora had been studying the position of the moons and stars since before she could fly. She didn't understand why they had to work together on something so simple. Thankfully it shouldn't take too long. She sighed as she pulled the blank scroll toward her, dipping a sharp claw in the inkpot and getting ready to write out the answers.
"I'm sorry, I don't believe we've been introduced. Could you give me your name please?" she asked, as she wrote her own across the top of the scroll in neat, perfectly legible letters.

"Coulda sworn we covered introductions earlier, but maybe I forgot. That'd be professor Raptor. I know; I'm still getting used to the title, too."
no subject
"Apologies, professor, I wasn't looking and mistook you for my SkyWing partner, who appears to have left early rather than complete the assignment." She sounded frustrated but not surprised by this fact, as if she shouldn't have expected any better from them.
"Is there any chance you would be willing to make an exception on this group assignment and allow me to complete the work myself?" She would rather not search the entire school for a delinquent SkyWing.
no subject
"I might be willing...or I could offer an extra credit assignment. You and I track down your missing partner. I resolve a truancy, you get a few extra marks and maybe a life lesson or two. You interested?"
Part of the school's purpose is having dragons from across tribes mingle and Aurora looks the type to let scrolls and textbooks be her study partners. Raptor can't let that slide in good conscience. Besides, how often is he the one hunting down Skywings?
no subject
She would never turn down a request from a teacher, even if it meant the exact thing she had been trying to avoid, plus she was could hardly imagine his life lessons would prove to be terribly useful in the future. He not exactly the most distinguished professor she studied under.
"Of course, I'm happy to assist in any way I can."
no subject
"You've probably tracked down your fair share of dragons. What are some of the most important things to have when tracking something?"
no subject
"First would be checking their most likely location, knowing their schedule or behavior, although we already know they aren't following the supposed routine. Since they're skipping class, the other classrooms and the library aren't likely locations. I would say the sleeping caverns or the prey center would be first to check."
no subject
The Skywing nudges back towards the school, inviting Aurora to follow him with the rest of the class working away on their studies.
"So. What do you think of the school so far? I'd ask your partner, but it looks we know their answer by now."
1!
He wrinkles his snout as he walks in and lays his eyes upon the overly large chest she's referring to. Maybe if this had been a roommate other than an Icewing, he'd try to play a bit more nice. But really, he can't help himself. "Let me guess. This is only your first piece of luggage."
no subject
"Actually, it's the only luggage I brought with me. You'll find I'm not a frivolous person." She took a key out of the white pouch she was wearing and unlocked it, opening the lid. The chest was filled with scrolls, carefully arranged so they wouldn't get mixed up during travel. They were all clearly labeled, revealing their contents were mostly medicinal in nature.
"I ight be inclined to lend them out if others are interested."
no subject
"If I didn't know any better, I'd say I've been roomed with a professor by mistake." It doesn't sound like a compliment. "What, pray tell, do you need all of those for?" He flicks his tail towards the contents of the chest as he talks, for extra emphasis.
no subject
Aurora closed the lid, re-locking the chest. She might be inclined to lend some scrolls, but that didn't mean she wanted to invite snooping through her things.
"I was told when I arrived that the library is well stocked with scrolls, but I have not had a chance to confirm that myself."
no subject
"Right, right. Showing off before class has even begun, I see."
He tries to make himself sound like he's already bored of the scrolls and instead moves towards the bed on the opposite side of hers. Unfortunately, he does want one by the window, so he'll just have to put up with it. He hops up onto it and settles down, curling his tail around himself.
"Just try not to take up the entirety of the floor."
Dante | Devil May Cry
1. Dorm Life
Teachers had their own places to sleep, but Raptor knew there would be lots and lots of squabbling among the students. Someone's gonna be displeased with sharing living quarters with other tribes, someone's got a complaint against another's pets, grudges from the war will flare up...all sorts of nastiness. That's why the Skywing's volunteering to be the (metaphorical) adult in the room to sort out any issues as they come and, hopefully, break up any fights before they escalate.
In order to engage a little and help spur friendly chatter among the students, Raptor's approaching and greeting the occasional dragon, whether they're a student or a teacher. "Hey there. You looking forward to classes starting? Everyone's gonna learn something from here; any ideas what you wanna learn?"
2. Class is in Session.
Raptor went ahead and arranged a field trip today to the Rainforest Kingdom, no doubt as part of his ongoing lessons on Pyrrhian culture. The students also got to stretch their wings and fly, something some may prefer over others, but there's a reason for that. After a moment of having his students wait outside, they'll hear the professor's voice calling to them.
"Class! Gather 'round; I got that surprise I've been hyping up." Carefully, the skywing steps through the trees and reveals...sloths. Several sloths either on his head, his spikes or even on his wings. "See these cute little guys? They're sloths. Queen Glory was willing to loan me a few for study on the condition the class be held here instead. Can't drag them too far from home, y'know? And no, you can't eat 'em."
The remark is met with a briefly sharp look before Raptor offers the sloths to the students one at a time, insisting on careful handling and letting the little animals get to know you first.
"They're a Rainwing favorite as pets. They spend a lot of time in treetops and a lot more time sleeping. My kind of roommate. They've shared the forest with Rainwings for a long time...so long that they're pretty comfortable around dragons. They say if you wake up with a sloth on you after sun time, then that one's chosen you and you can keep it."
A pause, then his spikes perk up a little.
"I'm serious about not eating them. Believe me, you're swallowing a hairball if you do. Also Glory would take my head."
3. Wildcard
Hit me up with any prompt you want! I'm down to plot stuff, too; hit me up with a message to this journal or a comment on the plotting post with any ideas you have.
2!
He's still listening though, and his own spikes perk up slightly at the professor's statement about swallowing a hairball.
"Does that mean...you've tried eating one before, professor?"
no subject
"Experience is the best teacher and I can't say I've made only smart decisions. On the other claw, it means I can recommend what not to do."
It's a good thing the sloths can't understand him right now, otherwise the one Raptor's rolling around his fingers would be far less willing to be so close to him.
no subject
"I'll be sure to come to you for guidance on which animals we shouldn't try eating, then."
He smiles a little, watching the sloths still clinging to the professor. "They really seem to like you."
no subject
"Can't say anything in particular about me draws 'em in. They might know I like sleeping in and eating late, but from a glance?"
He's looking over the other sloths either moving about or resting on him, the amused snort he gives paired with a shrug. "But that's the thing with animals: they're smarter than we give 'em credit. They kinda just...know if they can trust someone."
Lan Sizhui | The Untamed
1. Dorm life
From a mixture of excitement and a sense of punctuality that's been drilled into him since he was young, Snowshoe had arrived at his designated dorm room far earlier than was necessary. And despite the chance he'd gotten at first pick of bed, he'd opted to leave his things by the entryway for the time being – not wanting to cause any tension among his new dormmates from the start. Especially when he was more than happy with any selection.
Although, the sound of a familiar Icewing voice nearby, one rising in an argument, draws his attention. Maybe he was seen rushing out, or maybe the only clear indication someone had been there was his possessions left to the side.
Either way, he stays out in the adjacent hallway for a good while, trying to soothe the conflict between his tribemate and their new classmate. He Does Not Leave Until It's Sorted Out. This is definitely the sort of kid who grew up used to playing the mom role in his group of friends.
Eventually, once Snowshoe returns, he greets the room with a polite bow of his head and an earnest smile. “I'm sorry to keep you waiting.”
2. Class is in Session
A class on hunting might not be the sort of thing Snowshoe would need under normal circumstances, but that's exactly what made this school so special. The opportunity for exchanging and learning different hunting techniques from other tribes was even more interesting. And besides, who knew when knowledge like that could come in handy?
His scroll is already filled to the brim with notes from class, and once he's seemingly (finally) finished with his note-taking, he turns to the desk beside him eagerly. “I was wondering, would you like to go out together and test some of the new techniques we've gone over?”
3. Wildcard
Feel free to let me know if you want to plan anything else out too!
2.
"I've always admired your dedication to your coursework. However-" she paused, pointing out a particular line on his scroll, "you should know I have no intention of lying in the dirt waiting for my prey to walk in front of me like some MudWing."
no subject
Even so, he searches through the scroll a bit more, knowing better than to actually try to get Aurora to go along into the mud. He flips past Nightwing, and knows that's likely a lost cause as well - at least, for their first attempt at this. Instead, he turns to her and gives a gentle gesture with his claws towards her own notes. "Well, were there any that interested you in particular?"
no subject
She finished rolling up her scrolls and storing them in her bag. "If you are really keen on this, we could see if the school has any nets for fishing. I've never done it before, so it would be an educational experience."
You don't get a lot of points on the ranking board for low-effort hunting methods.
no subject
"Borrowing a net would be a great idea." He sounds like he's in high spirits from Aurora agreeing to go with him. There's a brief moment where he pauses to consider getting a Seawing classmate to come along and help with suggestions, but he decides against it. A chance to spend time with just the two of them sounded nice. Instead, he starts rolling up his scroll putting his own things away - getting up and ready to go once he's finished.
"It's a shame, I'd love to try the underwater techniques if there was a way for us to manage."
Alucard | Castlevania
1. Dorm Life
While school itself might not be so inherently horrible, Alucard would be damned if he was going to share his personal space and habits with other dragons.
This isn't the first time he's decided to sneak out of their room in the middle of the night and it certainly won't be the last. As soon as he's sure the others have drifted off to sleep, he shifts the color of his scales to disappear against the cave walls. It takes some time to navigate his way through the hallways without catching the attention of any students or professors who might still be awake, but he is in no mood to offer explanations.
Still though, accidents are bound to happen when other dragons can't see you coming through a narrow passageway, and maybe his luck was destined to run out eventually. The second he bumps into the other dragon, he lets out a soft hiss but otherwise freezes where he stands. If he has any luck remaining, perhaps they'll continue on their way...
2. A place of study(?)
Going to the library was the perfect excuse for Alucard to get away from his classmates, doormmates, and professors for a brief while. Peace and quiet at long last. He's sitting alone at a table in a dark corner of the room, a few scrolls scattered across the desk. And while he is reading through their contents, a quick glance would show that they're not subjects in any classes currently he's attending. And there's no consistent theme either, maybe a history scroll here, and astrology scroll there...
At any rate, he doesn't move much even as other dragons pass him by. With his chin propped up on his claws, his eyes scan across the scroll in front of him with a sense of casualness. Every so often his scales will shift to a different beautifully woven pattern of black with another contrasting color. Honestly, if you didn't know any better, it would seem like he was just practicing his poses for Dragon Vogue.
With the sound of someone's approach, he shifts only his eyes towards them. Like he knows he must acknowledge their presence, but obviously does not want to.
“Apologies. Did I have a scroll you were looking for?”
3. Wildcard
1
"Heh. Guess it's the right time for things to go bump in the night."
He's calm, despite the surprise, and even offers to step aside and give the unseen shadow a little more room. Even with the torch light, the skywing can't get a good visual on Alucard. He shrugs.
"Hey. I won't tell anyone as long as you're honest with me. Sound good?"
no subject
Still, some part of him clings to the hope of getting through this without revealing his identity, and he keeps his scales camouflaged even as he answers. "Oh? And what if I were to be honest in admitting I'd rather not say?"
no subject
"It is a nice night, I'll give you that. Clear skies and everything."
no subject
So he drops the pattern to shift back to his usual black and gold scales, stretching out his wings a little now that he doesn't have to hide up against the cave wall. "Hm. Is that what you're doing, then? Going out for a night flight? Or is this school business? Patrolling the area and so on."
He takes a few tentative steps towards him, like he's still not quite certain he's actually getting off so easily.
no subject
He's looking up towards the sky lights and the nearest exit while they walk. "Not that everyone needs the help, but a little direction can do a lot for you."
